However, once you have a feel for the functions and who should be in what group chats, then it can quite quickly and easily be put in place for people to start chatting like they would on Skype, email or text.

We expect all students to be committed, respectful and safe, in line with our behaviour policy. When marking the assignments, I can either edit the child’s work and write notes and/or make comments in the feedback box. When an answer is incorrect I can support through highlighting the area and making suggestions and the child can then resubmit.

The Most Efficient Class Workflow

Shortly before your first lesson, your teacher will send you an invitation email which will contain the web link for joining the first lesson and your virtual classroom. This course is made up of 6 modules and will take less than an hour of your time to complete. Watch the short videos on exploring the interface, setting up a Team, working with colleagues, putting students into groups, distributing and grading quizzes, sharing resources and more. Every day, we hold live lessons to support our children and we do this using Microsoft Teams. This has quickly become the new normal way to have our lessons, for both the children and me. If Students are joining the live lessons via an Android or Apple iPhone they will first need to download the Microsoft Teams app from the Apple or Android app stores before they can join a live lesson.

What is Microsoft Teams for Education?

It is free to download the Microsoft Teams software to a laptop or PC. To use the Android or iOS app versions on tablets and phones a Microsoft 365 account is required. However you can use the system on any device without downloading anything by accepting an invitation to a scheduled lesson and using your browser, so there should be no obstacle to anyone accessing this learning. Taking advantage of the features we discussed in this blog is an important first step in that process and will certainly help create a better learning experience for your students.
